How to choose a metal roof tile: Bavaria, Monterey or Bango?

The three metal-tile models differ in geometry, useful width and maximum length. Compare the profile separately from the material and finish in the quotation.

Technical basis: the Europrofill public catalogue and current production rules.

In detail

Choose the profile from the roof, not from the model name. Record the pitch, length and width of every slope, then check whether the required length can be produced and transported without an unnecessary split.

Bavaria has a 1.120 m useful width, 1.206 m total sheet width and a published maximum length of 10 m. Monterey keeps the 1.120 m useful width, has a 1.200 m total sheet width and an 8 m maximum. Bango covers 1.080 m from a 1.190 m sheet and can reach 15 m.

The catalogue gives all three profiles a recommended minimum pitch of 14°. This is a selection filter, not a structural calculation. A lower pitch or unusual geometry requires a project-specific check of the profile, support and weatherproofing details.

Useful width is the part of the sheet left covering the roof after the side overlap. Total width is the physical material used. Two quotations can cover the same roof area yet contain different physical quantities when they use different profiles or overlap rules.

Profile shape and material are separate decisions. After choosing the profile, select a published combination of colour, thickness, finish and origin. Changing any component can change the confirmed price and availability.

Example: an 8 m-wide slope divided by the 1.120 m useful width gives 7.14 Bavaria or Monterey sheets, so 8 columns are needed before checking edges and geometry. With Bango, 8 m divided by 1.080 m gives 7.41—also 8 columns—but the physical quantity and profile shape remain different.

The final decision must connect the profile with structure, appearance, transport and installation. The catalogue shows what can be quoted; measurement and the confirmed quotation show what belongs in your project.

If you're new to the project, you're probably wondering what the difference is. It's simple: the tile is for pitched roofs and a residential look; profiled sheet is for halls, façades and roofs with a slight slope.
